Wheat demand in Japanese flour milling industry: a production theory approach
نویسندگان
چکیده
A production approach based on the translog cost function is used to analyze import demand for wheat differentiated by class and country of origin in the Japanese wheat flour milling industry. Results indicate that US wheat faces strong competition in the Japanese wheat market, but its multiple classes and end-use characteristics enable the US to preserve the largest market share in Japan. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Fortification of wheat flour and maize meal with different iron compounds: results of a series of baking trials.
BACKGROUND Wheat and maize flour fortification is a preventive food-based approach to improve the micronutrient status of populations. In 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) released recommendations for such fortification, with guidelines on the addition levels for iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin A, and zinc at various levels of average daily consumption. Iron is the micronutrient ...

Cereal Chem. 88(5):525–532 Commercial wheat (Triticum aestivum em. Thell) flour milling produces flour streams that differ in water absorption levels because of variability in protein concentration, starch damaged by milling, and nonstarch polysaccharides. This study characterized the distribution of water-extractable (WE) nonstarch polysaccharides (NSP) in long-flow pilot-milling streams of so...

متن کاملStudies on Feeding Wheat Middlings to Beef Heifers and Growing and Finishing Beef Steers
INTRODUCTION The type and amount of concentrate included in beef cattle diets can greatly influence production and profitability. Small grains are typically fed in these rations, but the inclusion of by-product feeds, such as wheat middlings (WM), in growing and finishing diets have recently been studied (Dalke et al., 1997; Blasi et al., 1998). Wheat middlings are the by-product of the wheat m...

_________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT Brown flour was developed by incorporating different proportions of wheat bran i.e. 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% into the residual flour (milling by-product of pizza flour). Each treatment of brown flour, wheat bran and whole wheat flour was subjected for proximate composition and iron content. The highest iron content was obser...
